Questions

I'm coming from a business/economics background thinking of starting in real estate in New York City.

There is nothing called best advice or worst advice in real estate. There are tips to be successful. If you keep those tips in mind you will create your own best advice for yourself.
Keeping track of your clients is a must. You can go basic with a spreadsheet program or an email database program such as the one in Outlook, or you can invest in database software designed specifically for real estate professionals. While this may seem daunting, it is now easier than ever to build a professional looking website. A website provides you with a landing page to direct your existing and potential clients to, while creating a professional, searchable web presence. You can also make websites for individual properties to promote your listings and keep your sellers happy.
