Questions

How can I get more Facebook/YouTube views on my video content?

We are a Tech and Start-up news website based in India. (http://thetechportal.in/ ). We are expanding globally, too. We also publish recaps of the news in a video format thrice a week by the name 'The Bulletin.' The views are very low and we are looking for ways to increase them. Your advice would be of great help.

First of all, it is VERY important that you are uploading your videos natively to Facebook, as opposed to simply sharing a YouTube link. Facebook will penalize you for sharing the link, but greatly reward you for uploading the video natively.

Whether or not you are already doing that, the easiest way to get more views on a Facebook video is to run a video ad, thus boosting its reach. You can boost it just to your followers, to your followers and their friends, or to any targeted group that you think might enjoy it (people who like BBC perhaps, or people who follow politics). When it comes to video ads, a little bit of money can go a long way.

Put keywords related to the news you're sharing in front of, or instead of "the bulletin" Also share it on other platforms like LinkedIn, Pinterest... ask people you know to watch & like it, especially in the first 24hrs after you post it.

Use relevant hashtags in the description of the post. Make sure you are posting at the right time of day for your fans. Make sure you have LOTS Of fans on your page to view it, if not run FB ads to the content to increase the reach. Ask an enticing question in the description that is only answered in the video. Embed directly onto FB, do not post a Youtube link, you get way less reach with that. Grow social proof but getting people to like, comment and share the content regularly, create a brigade of supporters who will help spread the message. Use ads to grow your page with targeted people and then use ads to promote the video's. I'm happy to get a call with you if you have more questions.

There are the typical tactics on YouTube of enticing titles, eye-catching thumbnails, and of course important keywords at the beginning of all 3 sections (title, description and tags), but YouTube is going to highly value how long someone stays watching your video (and keeps watching more videos because of it) so you'll want to ensure your content is resonating with viewers and keeping them engaged.

I took a look at your website and noticed that you give a call to action to subscribe to your YouTube channel at the end of the post, but don't actually link to the channel or mention it's name. How are people supposed to know how to do that? You need to make it very easy for them.

Your accent is also very heavy making it difficult for others who don't share that accent to understand you, so I would highly recommend adding captions. I noticed in the video that you embedded from Facebook that the captions were not enabled. Captions are also used by YouTube as metadata to help know what your video is about, which will be especially useful in your case as their automatic captioning system will likely not do very well with your accent.

Happy to offer more advice through a call!

Hey there! I've done a ton of Facebook video marketing for our clients. That includes working with a popular on-the-go video camera.

1. Upload your videos natively to Facebook. Your reach will be much higher when you do this. But you can't just post this and call it a day.

2. Run FB video ads. Each view is still ridiculously cheap right now. You can get $0.01/view in the US with very basic targeting.

3. Leverage your other channels to engage with the FB video. The newsfeed algorithm favors shareable content. If you're getting engagement on it quickly, you'll surface to even more people.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you want to hop on a quick call to dive deeper into anything!

Cheers,
Sherman
