Questions

You Tube videos are monetized on YT. I am looking for other ways & suggestions. Maybe go for a sponsor? A pre roll? I am a freelance video reporter covering the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. I switched gears about a year ago from traditional Broadcast TV - producing and reporting to digital which seems to be evolving. I have a strong following on Twitter and have jumped from 5 thousand followers to 17 plus in 18 months and gain new ones every day. I also get new subscribers on YT every day. I am active on all social media channels as well I am looking for alternative revenue streams besides monetizing on You Tube. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Here are a few tips:

#1: Sponsors for Video Series as a Social Media Influencer.

This is hot with advertising and PR agencies and they have budgets of $1K to $50K depending on the quality of the content and audience that you have. Takes time and effort but will give you great clients if you do it right. Plan the content (Back to School season, etc), make a proposal based on your numbers (budget and social media following) and then just go ahead and create a target list of the agencies in town and set up meetings. Happy pitching! Go for it!

#2: Distribute your content with a short note to the press (or press release) to the media to be used as b-roll.

I'm sure you have media contacts but if you don't, either build or buy a list. Clients pay money to promote their events or themselves. Create content for your channel and then distribute it using direct mail services like MailChimp to the media. This works like a wire service distribution. You can charge from $25 to $250 for this service and additional $50-$200 if you get a hit from a media outlet to manage that coverage/interview.

#3: Small news is BIG news. Create a tab on your website for local/neighborhood news and cover small corporate events, politician birthdays etc and make them look like celebrities by interviewing them and taking their pictures. Make a simple event look like important news in the way you cover it and they will pay you from $250 to $500 just to be their videographer/photographer and media relations guy. If you add your own step and repeat with your logo and take pictures of everyone at the event and video recap you can even charge up to $2k because you'll be managing the HOT area. Everyone likes to feel like a celebrity :)
